This page provides you with information on known problems with the ATE made BMW DSC (D ynamic S tability C ontrol) variants. This ESC system, named MK60 , can be found in the following vehicles:
Known faults
The most common and, with a little exaggeration, most widespread problem manifests as a complete system shutdown. The DSC warning lights are constantly on, and after switching the ignition off and on again, the problem persists.
In that case both the ABS- and ESC systems will be inactive.
The following fault codes are present, when reading the fault code memory of the DSC unit:
5E20 Pressure sensor 1 function error
and/or
5E24 Brake pressure sensor error
Note: The fault codes may appear slightly differently than described above, when using diagnostic devices that are compatible with multiple brands, such as AVL, Bosch, or Gutmann. However, in any case, the stored fault codes will refer to a malfunctioning brake- or pressure sensor.
The repair process
In case the fault symptoms correspond to those described above, and you have decided to have your control unit repaired, please consider the following 5 points:
- When dismounting the hydraulic aggregate of the DSC, be careful not to damage the connectors of the brake hoses
- Send us the aggregate together with the DSC control unit (see picture on the right). Ordering a pickup from us makes the process much more convenient
- Once your device is delivered to us, we carry out the check and/or repair normally within 24-48 hours
- Be careful when remounting the device, the connector threads of the hydraulic aggregate are very sensitive
- In order to ensure proper functioning, the system must be vented in every case
